There is just no doubt in the triathlete’s mind that the right foods will make play a part in making them successful. And that is true regardless if you are plan to be competitive and win some races or if you are involved to make friend and/or stay healthy.

But, what should you eat and how should you eat it?

There are so many different diets and different aspects that you need to consider in order to get the right answers,

For those of us who struggle to know just what the right diet for us is, it is important to simply understand a few basic concepts and then, go from there.

The triathlon diet you follow will help to prepare your body for the harsh workouts, the intense training, great races and eventually a healthy life.

There are several important aspects to the right triathlon diet to follow. First and foremost, consider the water that you ingest (ie. proper hydration). This is true not only when you are training and racing, but you should get in the habit of always consumming the water and fluids your body needs.

You just have to drink enough to fuel your body and replenish it from all the sweet pouring out of you.

You will also put yourself onto a solid diet that will replace the carbs, proteins, and fats that your body will later use to run, bike, and swim.

Not only will you need to watch what you are putting into your body, but you will want to eat certain foods as certain times. An example is carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates will give you the energy you need to power through your workouts, the recovery and eventually the racing.

It is important to find the right diet that you can stay on. By the way the word "diet" does not refer to losing weight, it refers to nutrition.

For example, a very hard triathlon diet will be hard to maintain and therefore difficult to follow and reap rewards from, in other words in will end in failure and not help you.

Instead, stick with something that you can follow.

Maybe you are already very health concious and you have very few changes to make, but it may be that you're don't eat that well, if that is the case make small alterations in your diet. Don't start a whole new diet tomorrow, just don't eat so many potatoe chips and subsitute them for fruit or vegatables.

You will find many examples and great ideas right online to help you with this stage of the game.

Finding the right diet is the first step in getting your body into the right shape and then, later, it will help give you the energy that you need when you need it.
